held to be the amount due from 19th June 1907 to 18th
June 1910, the monthly amount payable oh account of
arrears being therefore £12.10.0. In addition, con- tributions should be regularly paid from the 19th June 1910 onwards quarterly as they fall due.
2. I am to add that these concessions require confirmation by the Secretary of State, who is being addressed on the subject, but that your payments should be begun on this basis in the meantime,
3. I am also to add that the reduction of
contributions is agreed to solely on the ground of the
hardship involved in recovering the higher rate and
the full arrears as a charge against your official
income, and that the Secretary of State is being ad-
vised that in the event of the Colonial Office feel-
ing still unable to pay the full contribution from
the outset or such balance of it as is not paid by
yourself under the arrangements explained above,
the Government of India consider that steps should
be taken to replace your services at their disposal without delay.
